SFI was hired by Families United to provide event management and public relations services for their Weekend of Remembrance, a series of events planned for more than 1,100 Gold Star Families (those who have lost a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan).
The purpose of the Weekend was to bring together Gold Star Families, along with military officers, elected officials, wounded warriors and other dignitaries, to pay tribute to America’s fallen Heroes.
Special activities were planned for children as well as a special wreath-laying ceremony was held at Arlington Cemetery. In addition, the National Gold Star Family Dinner was held with entertainment by legendary performer Wayne Newton followed the next day by the American Heroes Festival, an all-day event held at Six Flags America Amusement Park headlined by country music stars Aaron Tippin and Mike Corrado. All of these activities were planned and executed within a four week period. The Weekend of Remembrance attracted full media attention, including a half page article about the Weekend in The Washington Post.
“In all the years of producing events, your team is clearly the best firm I have ever worked with – and I have worked with a lot of event management firms. Your attention to detail, and flawless execution, in a short four week timeframe, says it all. I’m looking forward to planning our next year’s event with you!” – Christian Zaal, Director of Programs and Community Outreach, Families United
